Joining the Squadron FAQ

Join Endurance Exploration for new friends, support, and squadron adventures. Whether you are an experienced CMDR or just starting on your galaxy adventure, ENEX could be the squadron for you!

1. How do I join the Squadron?

Joining Endurance Exploration is easy and we offer a warm welcome to CMDRs new and old. The squadron can be found by accessing the squadron section found on the right-hand cockpit panel. Search for us using the ENEX tag or Endurance Exploration name. A video showing how to join can be found HERE.

2. I’m new to Elite Dangerous, can I still join the squadron?

Absolutely. We welcome all CMDRs regardless of experience. The squadron has a great community of CMDRs who can help with all aspects of being a commander including upgrading ships, getting more credits, improving ground combat skills, affording a fleet carrier, suit/weapon improvements, and more.

3. What is the squadron’s role?

ENEX fills a wide variety of functions for CMDRs. Endurance Exploration allows CMDRs to make their own choices but reap the benefits of a friendly org providing help as and when it’s needed. Fly with squadron CMDRs or continue flying alone, doing your own thing but with ENEX’s support structure backing you up. You can choose how you use the squadron.

4. Is ENEX a BGS-orientated squadron?

No. Although the background simulation in Elite Dangerous is something the squadron takes an interest in, it is just a part of the squadron’s activity. If you are a CMDR looking for a squadron with a keen dedicated focus on the BGS then ENEX is probably not going to be the squadron for you.

5. Does Endurance Exploration do PvP?

The squadron does do small amounts of PvP occasionally but the core focus of the squadron is PvE. If PvP is just part of what you do as a CMDR then ENEX may suit as a squadron home. If you are a dedicated PvP CMDR, then another squadron would likely provide more opportunities for PvP combat.

6. Am I limited by joining the squadron?

No. Endurance Exploration is built upon the idea of CMDRs being free to choose their path. Contributing to the squadron can be done in multiple ways. CMDRs can join in with the squadron BGS missions, expeditions, and other activities or carry on with their path with the added benefit of having the support of squadron assets. Completing missions for Tigurd Shared in the LHS 5333 system or cashing in exploration data helps the squadron regardless of whether it was done in a wing or solo.

7. Does the Squadron support a powerplay power?

No. We remain an independent squadron so do not back any of the powers in the galaxy. CMDRs are, however, free to support whomever they wish.

8. Is the Squadron just interested in exploration?

No. Although exploration is a big part of the org, ENEX has interests in many other areas of activity within the Elite Dangerous galaxy including AX combat, bounty hunting, rescue, mining, trading, and more. We also have excursions that cover combat, trading, community goals, Guardian and Thargoid sites, material gathering, etc

9. Does Endurance Exploration have a home system?

Yes, the LHS 5333 system has been officially adopted and BGS support operations are taking place on behalf of the Tigurd Shared faction.

10. Does the Squadron have its own private group?

Yes. The private group is, however, only available to squadron members. Contact CMDR Dirk Hatch via the squadron Discord or in-game, to get details about how to join.

11. I have a fleet Carrier. If I join, do I have to follow a specific naming convention?

No. We don’t require specific names for carriers. Some Endurance Exploration carriers carry the prefix code [ENEX] in the name i.e. ‘[ENEX] Hebridean Isles’ but that is optional.

12. How active is the squadron?

The squadron is very active with a variety of activities covering trade, exploration, combat, and more. Operations for the BGS (helping our officially supported faction Tigurd Shared in LHS 5333 and the surrounding systems) and combat wings take place regularly too. We also have regular Endurance Excursions that head way out into the black to explore new systems and scan exobiology. If you like trading then the community goals or Rackham’s Peak booze cruise may be of interest for raising a few credits. We welcome Squadron members creating their excursions for squadron members to participate in.

Just wanted to say that this [Lyra’s Song excursion] was one of the most fun thing I’ve done in a while in the the game. I have never been a part of a squad that is so active and that can come together to knock the goals out of the park’.

13. I live outside the UK, can I still join ENEX?

Absolutely! ENEX is made up of CMDRs from a wide variety of countries including the UK, USA, Canada, Ireland, Greece, France, Finland, Germany, Netherlands, Norway, Australia, Argentina, and more.

14. Can I get promoted?

Yes. Squadron promotions are reviewed three times a year but depend largely on how many new CMDRs have joined the squadron and other factors. If the recruitment number is reached then promotions will occur. Please note that CMDRs leaving the squadron and then re-joining will lose any rank progress unless they have a VERY good reason for leaving and then rejoining ENEX.

15. Can I get demoted?

Only for very serious infractions of the ENEX squadron rules. The squadron does not penalize those CMDRs who have limited time in-game due to family or work commitments. You will remain at the rank you currently have but will not lose rank due to a lack of activity in the game.

16. I’m thinking about joining ENEX but have some questions, is there someone I can email for more information?

Yes. Any questions can be sent to [email protected]k and CMDR Richard Campbell will be happy to answer any questions about ENEX.

17. Is the Squadron listed on INARA?

Yes. The Endurance Exploration Squadron can be found HERE

18. Does ENEX have a presence in any other game?

Yes. Endurance Logistics [ENLO] is a subsidiary org that exists in the Star Citizen Verse and is made up of CMDRs from the ENEX squadron. The org offers help and support to new and veteran citizens alike.

More details can be found HERE. Check out the ENLO Discord and the referral link for added extras when buying a game package. If you need advice just let us know in the ENLO Discord.

19. Does Endurance Exploration have an official Twitch stream?

Yes, it does! ENEX’s very own CMDR Dirk Hatch streams most weekdays from around 11 am UTC.

Check out the stream at https://www.twitch.tv/cmdrhatch

The squadron also has several CMDRs who regularly stream on Twitch. For more details check out the ENEX Twitch streamers page HERE.

20. How do I keep up to date with what’s going on?

The Squadron Discord is updated regularly with what’s going on and is HIGHLY recommended as an information source but we also recognize that not every CMDR wants to use the Discord platform. Updates are currently therefore also added to this website’s news section AND our Mastodon page.

CMDRs can also subscribe to the website’s emails which are sent whenever a new post is added to the site. Look for the subscribe box on the homepage at https://enduranceexploration.co.uk
